High-Precision Charge Measurement

Overview

We provide complete system-level and chip-level design capabilities, delivering custom solutions for high-precision charge measurement, high-precision time measurement and high-speed waveform digitization. Our team has long been engaged in readout systems for particle physics experiments and mixed-signal IC design.

A typical particle physics readout system consists of a front-end circuit, a digitization stage, and data processing with high-speed interfaces. The front end performs low-noise amplification, shaping, discrimination and peak detection; digitization uses ADCs or switched-capacitor arrays (SCA) for waveform sampling, or TDCs for precision timing. FPGAs or ASICs then complete digital signal processing, feature extraction, trigger buffering and high-speed data transmission.

High-precision charge measurement generally follows two technical routes. The first combines peak detection with an ADC to obtain charge information and a discriminator with a TDC to obtain timing, offering low power consumption and a controllable output data rate. The second digitizes the complete event waveform, preserving richer information and enabling higher measurement precision. The optimal solution is customized to each specific application.
